End of November Update

Well here it is the last day of November--where did the month go? Well I know that a lot of the time I was busy working and now the school has put a new filter on our computers at school and it won't let me access anything on the internet any more. Therefore it's hard for me to update. Also it was time to get ready for the American Thanksgiving. It was our first big holiday in the new house. I have been fixing Thanksgiving for about the last 13 years, ever since my mom got sick and was unable to fix for everyone. But I would usually fix it at my house and then take it to Mom's & Dad's, but then as she got sicker--I would just fix at my house and take plates to both sets of parents. Last year was my first Thanksgiving without my mom and it was the first Thanksgiving for Dad to spend with Charlotte and they were planning at first to spend it with her family so I didn't do a large family Thanksgiving last year. But this year we had the new house and I wanted to really celebrate and have them at my house. It was also the first time for Nancy, my mother-in-law to see my house. She has too much trouble trying to climb steps so she was never able to visit. But Doug was able to build two porches and a ramp at the back porch.
Last night we went to Tyler to see the Tyler Lights show. It's a drive through Christmas light show in a wooded area. It was beautiful. But who couldn't find their camera--yep, me. Tonight we are planning to go to Jefferson, Texas to ride the Rail of Lights. It's a Christmas train that goes around the bayou and shows Christmas decorations. Hopefully I will be able to find my camera and take pictures this time. Last year we went on the train in Rusk, Texas at Christmas time and they were decked out like Polar Express. And who didn't have a camera then? Yep, it was me then too. So I plan to clean out the truck and hope the camera is there.
Tomorrow, I'm supposed to go with my Nancy to the eye doctor. She's supposed to have a lens implanted in one eye and then later go back to doctor in about a week or two and have cataract surgery on the other eye.
And I'm scheduled to work two days this week. I'm scheduled for Wednesday (Elementary School UIL Competition) and Thursday (Jr.High UIL Competition)--which Thursday, Kayla will be competing in Spelling, Science and Listening Skills. She's already competed in Editorial Writing--we just don't know how she did yet. But speaking of Kayla--yesterday in the mail we got the Who's Who in Academic Excellence Book and Kayla's Plaque and Certificate for appearing in Who's Who. We are so proud of her.
Just one month left of this year. Where has time gone.

My late update

What can I say--it's been a long time since I updated this blog. But it's not all my part. I've still been working a lot at school and what have they done but went and put a new filter on the computers at school. And almost everything is now BLOCKED. I did get them to unblock where I can check my regular home mail account at school, but they will not unblock blogs, games or forums. So that leaves me a lot that I can't do at school.
Well we went to TMS and saw Carl come in second in the Nationwide Cup Race and of course we saw Carl win the Sprint race. Boy were we really excited. Then it was on to Phoenix for him and he didn't do as well as we would have liked or actually Jimmie did better than we wanted. Carl came in fourth and Jimmie won of course. But coming out of Phoenix and going into Homestead (the last race of the season--unofrtunately), Carl is the only one that can beat Jimmie for the Championship. It's unlikely to happen but we are hoping that it does happen. I'm really hoping that Jimmie finishes 37th or worse and Carl would be declared the winner.--Come on Jimmie, blow a motor as soon as the race starts. LOL
At school, it's still in an uproar. Our principal is on administrative leave. Seems that on the 29th of October he sent an inappropriate text message to a student. So he's been on administrative leave since then. Our Technology teacher has been taking his place. This teacher also applied for the principal job but they hire Mr. Ray Rice. Maybe they would have been in better shape if they had hired Mr. Johnson. Oh well, we live and learn.
Today is Veteran's Day and I can honestly say--I'm proud to be a veteran. On this past Sunday, our church honored all us veteran's with a red, white, and blue corsage. It was nice of them. Several years ago they honored us with a folded American flag.
Well that's all I know to tell you right now. I've got to get busy and clean this house.

What A GREAT weekend

The Nationwide race was in Nashville and the Sprint race was in Hotlanta--or for you guys that don't follow NASCAR--it was held in Atlanta. The reason for it being a GREAT Weekend--Carl won both races. He moved from 4th in the Chase Standings to 2nd in the standings. Now we just hope that Jimmie Johnson has a bad next three races. Come on MOTOR blow up. Or have a wreck that just tears the car up and not hurt Jimmie. I sure would love to see Carl win the Sprint Championship. Also it would be neat if he could win the Nationwide for the second year. I mean Jimmie doesn't need to win three years in a row.
I wasn't scheduled to work on Monday but got called in to sub in Pre-K. Today and tomorrow I'm in 4th grade and then Thursday I have first grade. I won't work on Friday. We leave Friday morning at 9:30 to go to Dallas for our NASCAR weekend. Yep, this posting is almost all about NASCAR. But when it gets this close to going to a race--that seems all Kayla and I can think about.

Another Hump Day

Well I looked over my last post and I wrote something wrong. I wasn't scheduled to work for Susan today--it's actually tomorrow but I did work yesterday for 1/2 day--I was Susan while she went to a workshop here at school. And today I'm back in as a Jail Warden. Actually I'm back in ISS with a high school student who hasn't been doing his work and has received a bunch of O's for his grades. So they stuck him in ISS (In School Suspension) thinking he would work and get his grades caught up. Today is so much better than last week because this student isn't even attempting to talk. He's across the room from me facing the wall and has been working for the last hour without saying a word. So I'm over here on the computer. Tomorrow I work for Mrs. Susan while she goes and sits on a jury. She was told that the trial should only last one day--we will see.
This past Sunday's race wasn't the best we have ever seen because Carl didn't win but he came in 3rd which is great for him at Martinsville. He has never made a top 10 at Martinsville. This Sunday's race is at Hotlanta (Atlanta, Ga.) and he has won there before. He needs to win the next four races for him to win the Championship. Don't really believe that will happen but I can dream can't I. Also speaking about CARL--he announced his engagement to Dr. Kate last week. We all see pleased to hear that. I think they are good for each other.
Kayla and I are getting ready to leave next Friday for TMS (Texas Motor Speedway) to see all three NASCAR races. I sure hope Carl wins there. Doug is going with us.
Well that's about all I know to talk about--the only other thing is to say I didn't do good at WW's. I ended up going over my two safety pounds of my goal weight so I had to pay for my meeting. Kayla did wonderful. She's back over a 20 lb weight loss. I'm so proud of her.

Wow--I fell down on the job

and haven't posted in a while. I got busy at work and didn't have time to blog. As I stated before--Last Friday ws my last day to sub for Mrs. Opal. And I thought it might be a while before I subbed again. It was--I had a whole one day off before I started subbing again. I then got to sub for Mrs. Susan in the Elementary office for Tuesday and Wednesday. Then Thursday and Friday I got to sub in ISS (In School Suspension). On Thursday I had two students and I got an extra one during lunch. Today I just had one of the students that I had on Thursday. I am only scheduled for next Wednesday when I will work for Mrs. Susan again. I'm sure that I will be called in to work a different day.
Kayla and I went to WW on Tuesday. Unfortunately I gained 2.2 lbs while Kayla did really good and lost 2.4 lbs. Hopefully I will do better this week.
I'm also scheduled to work the school carnival next Friday. I was hoping I could work a booth so Kayla could help--but no--she put me in the concession stand and Kayla won't get to help out.
And the Sprint Cup Chase Race is getting so close. We leave two weeks from today. Kayla can hardly wait. I think she wants to start packing this weekend. And of course I will let her.
That's it for now.

Thursday--last full day of school this week

After school yesterday, Kayla and I went to Hemphill to pick up Bristol. The vet said she did great during the surgery. Also told us that the hair/skin problem is due to scabies. Told me how to treat the problem and also it will help the fleas. Also it has worm medicine in it also. Very expensive but very good.
Well I started driving Bristol home, she was in the back seat with Kayla. She refused to ride on the rug that we put back there for her and decided to sit almost on top of Kayla. Well half way home she decided it was time to get sick. She ended up throwing up (luckily it didn't get on Kayla) and Kayla was yelling "Stop the car--Stop the car!!!" I couldn't get pulled over fast enough for Kayla it seemed. As soon as I could get the car stopped, I jumped out and threw open the back door expecting Kayla to get sick at any time. She didn't and I had her get in the front of the truck and let Bristol stay in the back by herself.
We get Bristol home and move her pen from the fenced in pen with the other dogs to behind our house. I put her puppy with her and she stayed there the rest of the night. Things appear to be going good. I might move her back to the regular pen this afternoon.
Today at school was just a regular work day. Nothing exciting has happend yet and we only have one period left. This will be my last full day of work for Mrs. Opal--tomorrow is just 1/2 day due to the fair. Then Mrs. Opal's supposed to be back Monday and I will go back to subbing just when they need me. I'm already scheduled for two days next week for Mrs. Susan.
Doug called me earlier and said that Kayla didn't have piano lessons today because Mrs. Clara is sick. I know Kayla will be glad. She has been so tired this week.
That's it for now.

hump day once again

Well today was very exciting at school. We had a student get caught stealing from our snack shack. His class is left along during their PE time and several students have been going into the snack shack and stealing drinks. They know how to jimmy the door and get in. Well the custodian had pulled a sting operation for the last two days and today hit pay dirt. Well the principal took care of it without involving law enforcement which he could have. Also he's not going to send the students involved to AEP which is something else that should have been done for stealing school property. I fault the teacher some because she should have been with the class instead of in her office.
On a personal note--Doug took Bristol to the vet today to have her surgery and Kayla and I will go as soon as school is out to pick her up. The vet told Doug we should pick her up between 4 and 5. I hope she did okay. I will try and schedule Brownie for her surgery when I pick Bristol up.
And at Weight Watchers last night--I fooled myself--I lost .8 lb last week. I don't know how because I didn't follow my diet at all. Unfortunately, Kayla gained a small amount. Needless to say--Kayla and I are back to following it as closely as we can. But we are due to go to the fair on Friday night--so I know I will blow it some.

It's Tuesday which means

it's Weight Watcher day. I know last week I said that I would probably be over and ended up not being. But I know I have to be over this week. I went as far as not eating lunch today to see if I could be under my goal weight excess. I won't know until after 6:00.
Then tomorrow, Doug gets to take Bristol to the vets to have her surgery. We are getting her spayed and then making an appointment to get Brownie fixed. We are having too many puppies. Oh well, I hope things go good tomorrow so I will know what to expect for Brownie. I also hope that we can get the little puppy to eat while Mommy is gone. I mean she's five weeks old so she should be okay with Mommy gone.
Today at work was an okay day. Not much happening. Mrs. Opal came by to do a few things she needed to do to get Kyle lined out. She told me that she would be back later this week for us to go over a few things so she would know what's what and what has been done and what needs to be done.
Other than that--nothing else to talk about.

Another Week another dollar

Well I'm starting my last week as the school's high school secretary. Mrs. Opal is due back next Monday. It's been fun. I just hope they continue to call me to sub for the teachers. I will feel lost not coming to school every day.
Sunday's race was NOT a GOOD day for us. Carl ended up getting wrecked out and took several of the other Chase contenders with him. But at least he's still in 2nd place in the Chase. Jimmie Johnson is still in first.
I really did a lot in the house yesterday. I got the kitchen completely cleaned and the dining room cleaned except for the junk for a garage sale. Also got most of the living room cleaned. Today I plan on helping Kayla get her room cleaned.

TGIF

It's Friday once again. I did find out yesterday that my office subbing is coming to an end. Opal and Kyle are due back into town today and then she will take off all next week to get things settled for Kyle at the house. She will return to work on the 13th of October. And that will be the day that I go back to regular subbing. Oh well--it was fun while it lasted. But several of our subs have been up here almost as much as I have. So I don't think I will miss too many days. Other than that I don't have much to say right now.
I do know that they is not a NASCAR Nationwide race tomorrow so Kayla and I can sleep in late. Now the Sprint race is in Talladega and I sure hope Carl does well. I would like to see him back in first place. I sure hope that Jimmie doesn't win his third Championship in a row.

Hump Day First Day of October

Waking up this morning I knew Fall was in the air. It was so cool out this morning and it's not too bad this afternoon. Kayla and I drove up to the parking lot at school and what do we find but the school had been pranked. There was toilet paper, flour, shaving cream, saran wrap and the like everywhere. And it was done by about 11 of our 18 seniors. But instead of making them clean it up during first period--the superintendent decided that the seniors would have to stay late next Friday--we get out early that day for our county fair day. But now I've heard it's just a bluff--they don't have to stay. But everything would have been okay but they wrote a text abreviation on the window that didn't go over very good. They wrote Come back Ike but you can imagine what they put in place of come.
I also found out that the school secretary that I'm subbing for--is due to come back to town this Friday and will probably just be out of school for another week. But I know with as much trouble as I have been having trying to find subs for teachers that have to be out---I won't be staying home too much. I just wish I could get a permanent job here at the school. One of the teachers was telling me that at a school she worked at that they had a sub that they kept on the payroll and she would just fill in but now she would have to be at school everyday. I wouldn't mind that because I could just be a runner or even an aide with one of the teachers or secretaries.
Kayla and I both unfortunately gained weight this past week. Not much but it was a gain anyway.
That's it for today.

Happy Tuesday

Well I knew I forgot something about the race. Any of you that watched the race will know what I'm talking about and if you don't follow the races--you might not find this so funny. Carl was in 2nd place toward the end of the race and he came out of no where to go around Jimmie on the last lap--but he ran into the soft barrier wall trying a slingshot move that he knows from "in his words--from video games" thinking it would make him go faster and get the win. But what it did in real life was slow him down and Jimmie was able to take the win. I was so mad at him for trying this video game move. So maybe this weekend he will do good and win the race or at least get back in first place on the Chase. Go CARL.
Kayla and I go to Weight Watchers tonight. I doubt if I was good for this week.

Weekend Update

Not much to report for Saturday. I slept in and then we watched the Nationwide race. Wasn't real happy about the outcome of that race. Then Sunday morning Kayla and I met my dad and brother at the cemetary to take flowers for my mom's grave. Sunday would have been her 75th birthday. We got her a very pretty spray. It's a heart shape grapevine wreath with shades of purple flowers all over it along with two purple butterflies. We all liked it. We cleaned up around her grave and talked about things we remember about her and especially about the day she died.
Then Kayla and I went home to watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup Race. I watched about half of it and then had to go to Nacogdoches to buy dog food. Kayla called me quite frequently to give me updates on the race. Needless to say we weren't happy with Carl's 2nd place win. We were hoping that he could hold on to first. There is always next week. Go CARL!!! He's only 10 points behind Jimmie in the Chase.
Nothing else spectacular happened over the weekend. And this morning I got up to come back to a week of school. Same ole same ole.

Friday, September 26, 2008

WOW !!!! TGIF

Wow, I've made it through a week of school after being out for a week and a half. I am so tired today--I plan to sleep in tomorrow. I told Kayla on the way to school that I was going to sleep late tomorrow--she said that she was too. I told her that I would get her up early enough to watch the race. I looked online and it doesn't start until around 2:00. Today at school hasn't been too bad.
A lot of us are not eating school food today or even food we brought from home. Some people from the school are having a Bar-B-Que benefit for Kyle Moore (the reason I'm subbing so much) and the school is letting them deliver plates to the school for anyone that wanted to buy one. Kids included. I knew they couldn't stop adults from ordering a plate but I thought it was nice that they decided to let the kids get them too.
I don't know if I posted this already but here goes. Progress reports went out this week and we only mail them home if students have an 80 or below. Well Kayla didn't get ANY mailed home. But from what she told me - she's straight A's again.
Maybe I will have more to report later.

Bus Wreck

Well I said if something happened I would post an update--well it did. Kayla and I were on the way home and just as we crossed into the county at the river bridge--there sat one of our school buses in from of the elementary principal's house and a black pick-up was right behind it, sitting out in the road. The pick-up had run into the rear of the bus. There were already people there so Kayla and I went on--but as we were getting close to Doug's cousin's house, Kayla and I were wondering if Brittany's children were on the bus. We decided that we would stop and tell Brittany about the wreck. Well as we are approaching her house--there she is walking back from the mailbox. We pull over and asked her if her kids were at home--she said no--they're on the bus. So we tell her about the wreck and she asked me if I could drive her down there. I take her down there so we can pick her kids up. We knew it would be a while before the kids could get home because the highway patrol hadn't even turned up yet.
When Brittany got back in the suburban, she said the man said his brakes had locked up and that's why he hit the bus. NO way!!! Skid marks will prove otherwise. He was driving way to fast and besides he could have seen the bus stopped, letting kids off while he was still on the river bridge and should have slowed way down before getting close to the bus.

Hump Day update

Well it's Wednesday once again. I'm sitting at my desk with a few minutes to spare. I've done a lot of filing today and have more to do. I received a phone call today and I might be getting a full time job or at least a long term job. I just have to wait a little while to see what materializes. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I sure would love to have the job that might come available to me.
Went to Weight Watchers last night and had gained a pound. Not bad--I fully expected to see like almost a 5 pound weight gain. I've got to get busy and do some walking or bike riding.
Not much else to talk about.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Weight Watcher Day

Yep, it's Tuesday and Kayla and I will be going to Weight Watchers tonight. I don't think I lost any weight but I don't feel like I gained either. Or if I did gain--it won't be much. Still working at the school and right now I'm waiting to mail out Progress Reports. Kayla got two reports yesterday and they were both A's. She gets extra credit for bringing them back signed, so I made sure she had them this morning. Several of the high school kids are going to wish they got extra credit for bringing things back signed. I don't know how they are going to make it through the first six weeks.
Not much else is happening in my life. My dad left this morning for South Carolina. Don't know what he's doing there but it's something. Will post more later.

Monday, September 22, 2008

Back at School

Well we started back to school today and it felt good to be back. But it's been busy today. I'm trying to get Progress Reports ready to mail out. We are only a week late on them and that will only give the kids less than two weeks to bring their grades up. I have quite a few to mail out.
Kayla has already been on the computer trying to see what the Atlantic is doing and there appears to be another tropical depression trying to do something. Let's hope it doesn't come here. Kayla said it will probably be a bad one and will probably come to Texas because it's supposed to be named Kyle. And she's thinking of Bad Boy, Kyle Busch of NASCAR. Speaking of the Brat, Kyle--it was nice to see that he's had trouble in both of the Sprint Chase races. I just wasn't happy to see Greg win both races. But at least Carl is still in First place. If Bob wouldn't have made that mistake and had Carl just take two tires instead of four--Carl might have won the race. But at least he gave them a run for their money. It was neat to see 3 Roush drivers in positions 1,2,and 3.
Not much else to report right now. If something else comes up--I will drop back in.

Friday, September 19, 2008

Wow it's been a LONG week

Well, there we thought the aftermath of Hurricane Ike was over but it wasn't to be. We lost electricity AGAIN!!! A tree had fallen on an electrical line and it finally pulled the line all the way to the ground and shorted out the electricity. So we lost our electricity for almost two days. We were able to get the FEMA meals, water, and ice that was being handed out. This made Kayla very happy. The meals aren't too bad. The ones we got from town had three meals in a box. You got cereal and box milk for breakfast, a can entree (Dinty Moore Beef Stew and etc) or something like canned chicken salad etc., crackers, and the same for supper. They also had small can of Pringle chips, a cereal bar, a small package of sunflower seeds, 3 small containers of peaches, a small container of pudding and a bag of cookies. Then the meals we got from the church were the military MRE's, which is just one meal per bag. I believe Kayla got a chicken breast, Doug got chili and I got beef stew. But I'm going to trade my beef stew for one of my mother-in-law's chicken fajitas. But I like the cherry/blueberry cobbler that came in mine so I'm not going to give the whole bag to her to swap out. LOL She ended up getting two cases of MRE's because they are still without electricity. And our shop is still without electricity so it makes it hard for Doug to get much work done.
One neat thing about our place after the storm--We sold our old trailer a good while back (like before the storm) but the people weren't able to get it moved until after the storm. Well it left Wednesday and when they moved it out--it left a lot of the old insulation on the ground along with a lot of wood and junk. It actually looks like maybe a tornado came through and totally destroyed our home. If it wasn't for our new manufactured home just sitting off to the side of it. I told Kayla it would be funny if FEMA came by and thought that had happened. I hope to get a picture and get it posted.

Hurricane Ike is almost here

Well it looks like within 12 hours Ike will be hitting the Gulf Coast of Texas. It's supposed to hit Galveston/Houston and then turn north and head toward us here in East Texas. The wind is starting to pick up here. I have things I think we will need. We have already had a fatality accident in our town on the evacuation route. Just now on the news it's saying the eye is contracting and the pressure will start to drop and Ike could go to a 3 instead of a 2. So you all please remember us in the path of this LARGE hurricane. That is another thing they are talking about is how big he is.

Hurricane Ike

Hurricane Ike is breathing down our neck. And our wonderful school has yet to decide what we will be doing as far as early dismissal or missing tomorrow goes. They have been in a meeting since this a.m. and we still don't know anything. I was told that we would know something after the noon hour. Well that could be any time or a long time from now.
I really hope that we are out. Several of the other districts have already either let their students out or are planning on not having school tomorrow. A teacher from Lufkin has called me and told me that the traffic is already bumper to bumper.

Monday, September 8, 2008

Wow it's Monday

And I had a full Sunday of NASCAR racing. Carl didn't do so good in the Sprint race but he won the Nationwide. Go Carl. I'm back at school today and it's the same old same old.

Sunday, September 7, 2008

Weekend Update

Well I haven't posted since Wednesday but so much has been taking place. With work and all I have trouble posting. LOL But Thursday was a big day for us. We got home from school and went to talk with the dogs. All but one dog came to see us. We called and called for Bristol and couldn't find her. Now the dogs are in a fenced in backyard so she couldn't have ran away. Finally she comes out from under a trailer we have that they sleep under, but she went right back and she would growl at the other dogs when they came back there. So I had Kayla keep all the dogs around her away from the trailer and I investigated under the trailer and found a little female puppy. Bristol had given birth to one puppy and we didn't know she was pregnant. So we have moved her to a pen of her own with her little puppy.
And the bad news was the races on Friday and Saturday night were postponed until Sunday because of tropical storm Hannah. So at least today Kayla and I get to watch races all day. I know that Carl will be tired at the end of the day.
Kyle had brain surgery on Friday and I haven't heard any updates on him. Hopefully tomorrow I will know something and be able to post.
And we are watching another hurricane. Ike looks like he could make it to the Texas coast sometime next week. At first they thought he might go to the Florida but now it looks like it could be Texas. So we are glued to the Weather Channel once again. But I guess that's okay because after Gustav went through--we are down to only about half the channels on our sattelite tv because it knocked out our other channels. And the repair people can't come until the 17th of September.

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Humpday Update

Well it's a boring Wednesday. Nothing new to report. Kayla and I went to Weight Watchers last night and we both lost weight. Nothing big but it was a weight loss no matter what. I'm working again today and everything is going smooth at school. Just a boring life so I guess that's it for my midweek post.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Post Hurricane Gustav

Well we didn't get hit by the hurricane. We are having quite a bit of rain today and the worst of the rain is supposed to hit us this afternoon. Kayla was quite upset because a lot of the local schools were closing due to the hurricane but we didn't. I'm glad that we didn't because if I don't work--I don't get paid. But we are still watching the weather channel quite faithfully due to there still being tropical activity in the Atlantic. Hannah shouldn't bother us because it looks like she is going to the east coast , but Ike and the K storm we don't know what they are going to do. We are just now in the active time period of the hurricane season. By the looks of the news channels, New Orleans faired really well during the storm. There was no breach of the levees.
Not much to report right now because I'm at school trying to get some work done. If anything happens I will drop by for a visit and update.

Saturday, August 30, 2008

Powerful Update

Well I didn't post anything this past week. I went to work at the school as the school secretary. Mrs. Opal has to take off because of Kyle's wreck. By the way, Kyle is doing so much better--he is now in Houston undergoing rehab. But after working each day--when I got home, I didn't feel like getting on the computer. Now it's Saturday and I'm glued to the Weather Channel. Hurricane Gustav is now a category 4 storm and is expected to increase to a category 5 in a short amount of time. The only bad thing--is it looks like he will be coming into the East Texas area. We are in his direct path right now. When I left school on Friday--they told us to take the phone tree home just in case we are in hurricane mode on Tuesday and we don't go to school. That way the staff will have to call and let other staff know that we aren't working.
Kayla is wanting the storm to come in this area so we can get the free food that they had out. When we Rita came through three years ago we got food and Kayla became embarrassed at me for going to get the food. This time she said she wants me to go get the food. She really like the meals that they gave out. They lasted us until like last year.
Yesterday when we went to the store--the bread was already gone as well as the water going fast. I picked up an extra loaf of bread and two cases of water. I also filled my truck up with gas. Now I sit and wait to see what the storm does. We are also watching to see what Hannah and the other two disturbances happen to do. Hannah could follow Gustav. She was projected to hit the east coast of Florida but now it looks like she's dropping down to follow into Gustav's line.
Will try to keep this updated about the approach of the hurricane unless he hits and we lose electricity.

Carl Edwards Wins AGAIN

Well the Nationwide race was on Friday night at Bristol and Carl didn't do good at all. He had a tire go down and crashed into the wall. Then the Sprint Race was held Saturday night and Carl started on the Pole. He led for a while and then Brat Busch got in the lead and led most of the race. But right at the end Carl takes the lead from him after giving Kyle a bump from behind and after Carl goes around him, Kyle does the same thing to Carl (bumps him from behind). Well Carl goes on to win at Briston and during the cool down lap--Brat Busch crashes into the side of Carl several times--Carl had enough of it and turns down into Brat and spins Kyle out. Kyle was then radioed to and was told to report to the NASCAR hauler. Hopefully tomorrow NASCAR will give Kyle a penalty for his actions. I hope that they don't just take regular points from Kyle (that won't hurt him) and that they take win points for the Chase away from him. We just have to wait and see.

Yesterday, Kayla and I went shopping to get a few things that she needed for school (which starts tomorrow for both of us) and I bought a futon for the house.

End of Week Update

Well it's already Friday and it's the last day of summer vacation. I can actually say that this year. I received a phone call yesterday from the high school secretary. She's going to be out for most of the 1st six weeks (due to her son being in a tagic accident) and wants me to sub for her. So I start on Monday morning. I'm glad to be subbing but wish it was for a different reason. But I can post good news for Kyle. He's improving so much. He still has a long way to go but each small step is a big step for Kyle and his family. The other boy that was in the wreck has been moved to a private room so that shows he is improving. I wish that everyone that reads this continue to pray for Kyle Moore and Richard Miller that they continue to improve.
I'm still without transportation but Doug says that my truck should be ready today. He could have had it finished yesterday but didn't want to rush on it and he really wants to test it out before he gives it back to me. I hate to drive it for four days again and the motor to go back out. I wish I could say the same thing for my dad's truck. It appears that they are having a LOT of problems with the motor they were putting in his truck. It was supposed to interchange with the motor he had but it's not. The stuff that came off his motor is not going on the new motor. So it's going a lot slower than it was first planned. Now dear hubby wants to put it on the back burner and work on other vehicles at the shop. But I can understand that--the other vehicles pay the bills while Dad's truck, Doug is doing for free since we were using the truck when it tore up.
Today is the first day that it's not raining since Monday. Which is nice but Kayla and I are stuck at the house, so it doesn't really matter. Here it is just 12:30 and the temperature is already at 99.5, and they said it was supposed to be in the upper 80's to lower 90's today. So we are back in the dog days of summer.
Last night we went to meet the teacher at Kayla's school. We only had to meet one new teacher for Kayla. All her other teachers she had last year. She also picked up her schedule. We weren't real happy with one of her classes. She wasn't supposed to have Art this year--she had it last year and this year Spanish was supposed to take it's place. Well we get her schedule and she has Art and Spanish. The class they dropped was Reading. Last year they had ELA (English/Language Arts) and Reading for a two class period with the same teacher. This year they will only have one class period for each teacher. That's where she has the new teacher so I guess they will get a little reading with ELA. So Kayla has: Technology, Science, Art I (which carries a credit to high school), Jr High Athletic/PE, Social Studies, Math, ELA, and Spanish I (which also carries a credit to high school). So when she starts high school she will have 2 credits. Last year's 8th graders are only carrying 1 credit to the 9th grade and that's for Spanish. So I guess it's good that she has Art.
Tomorrow, Kayla and I are going to go get our hair cut for the new school year. Kayla is probably going to get close to 6 inches cut off hers. I'm just probably going to get a neckline cut again. Mine is already short but the top and bangs area is too long.

Hump Day

Well it started out as a rainy Wednesday. Doug took the winch truck to work and left the Wrecker at home. He also took my motor to Nacogdoches to get it re-worked on. They didn't say anything about having another ready and able to swap out with Doug. So he left mine there and they will call him when it's ready. About 1:00, Kayla and I needed to go to the store so I drove the wrecker. I'm busy trying to get supper cooked. It's finally stopped raining for today.
The only really good thing that happened today is that NASCAR handed out penalties today to Joe Gibbs Racing and now the 18 and 20 doesn't have their regular Crew Chiefs for the the Nationwide.
I went to Weight Watchers last night and I didn't do good last week. I gained 3 pounds. I also went to Wal Mart and bought some new pants and tops so I would have something to wear just in case I have to work the first week of school.

Boring Tuesday

It's back to being boring. We are without transportation and it's just yucky outside. We are do for rain today but then it has been supposed to rain for the last two weeks. But because I'm stuck at the house it will rain today. Doug will have to take Kayla and I to our Weight Watcher Meeting in Center again this week. And since he's taking us--that means we can't stay. But I'm still going to have him take me by Wal Mart.
I had my sub meeting yesterday and found out that the dress code for the teachers and subs have changed. We can only wear jeans on Fridays. That's okay with me but I just got a bunch of nice dress jeans and now I will have to find me some dress pants. Oh well.
I don't have much else to say right now so if something interesting happens--I will post it.

Woe is me!!

I'm back without transportation again. They put my new motor in and finished up with it on Thursday. I drove it to Lufkin and Nacogdoches on Friday, Nacogdoches on Saturday and again to Nacogdoches on Sunday. I was driving to my sub meeting today at 1:30pm and the "Service Engine Soon" light came on and stayed. I called Doug and he said to come by the shop on my way home. He checked it out and the computer said it was the catylic converter. Well he reset the light and it stayed out for about a minute and came back home. I drove it home. After Doug and Kayla got home, Kayla and I drove to Dad's house. After staying there about 30 minutes we got ready to leave. I went out and the truck acted like it didn't want to start but did. I started to drive home and steam started coming out of the exhaust. I called Doug and he told me NOT to drive it. He said it sounded like a busted head gasket. So he came and towed the truck to the shop. He parked it out on the road to unload it and then he drove it up to the shop. But as he tried to start it - it made a clanging noise. He said that the motor was trying to seize up. I am not having good luck with vehicles.

Carl Edwards Sweeps Michigan

Wow what a GREAT race weekend. First of all it was Carl's 29th birthday and then he won the Nationwide race and then Sunday race day came. He started 28th and before you could turn around he was leading the race. All of a sudden it looked like Kyle was going to beat Carl and win again. But then they had to pit and Carl's crew did a wonderful job and got Carl out super fast. Carl went on to WIN the Sprint race so he had a great birthday and anniversary weekend. But Jack Roush didn't do too bad with his teams either. All five teams came in the top 10. Carl was in first, David Ragan was in 3rd, Greg Biffle in 4th, Matt Kenseth in 5th and last but not least was Jamie McMurray was in 10th. Way to go Carl and the rest of Roush Racing. I would love for Carl to win the next three races and that way he will only be behind Kyle by 10 points when the CHASE starts. Right now we are 40 points behind Kyle when the Chase starts. It would be so neat if Carl could win BOTH Championships this year.

Carl Edwards Won the Nationwide Race

Yep, he won today. Now he's second in points and closing in fast to Clint Bowyer. He's just 113 points behind Clint. It's still possible for him to win the Nationwide Championship again. Wouldn't it be great if he won both Nationwide and Sprint Championships this year??????

It's Race Day Saturday

Well I didn't post anything yesterday but I was so busy. I did end up getting my truck back on Thursday afternoon. It runs so good. After getting the truck back Kayla and I went to Nacogdoches to visit Aunt Birdie. We also ordered a NASCAR birthday cake so we could celebrate Carl Edwards 29th birthday. Carl's birthday was yesterday.
Yesterday didn't start out too good. I got news that two of the boys that I taught (as a sub) at Chireno High School were in a car wreck about two miles from my house. I know both boys. I went to the bank to cash a check and the boy that waited on me told me that it was Kyle Moore and Deron Davis aka Fish. I was just so shocked.
Kayla and I then left to go to Lufkin to do some school clothes shopping and we found out from Susan Higginbotham that it was Kyle and Richard Miller. When I asked Susan how they were--she informed me that the doctors were saying that there wasn't anything they could do for them.
Ended up shopping--got some good deals and then went to Nacogdoches to pick up the birthday cake. After getting home, I found out that Aunt Birdie was re-admitted to the hospital.
Today, Kayla and I went to Nacogdoches to visit with Aunt Birdie--who happens to be doing a little bit better today. Then went to Wal Mart to get a few things we forgot yesterday. Then I went by the other Nacogdoches Hospital and was able to visit with Opal Moore (Kyle's Mom). There isn't much improvement in Kyle but like Opal said--he's still alive 24 hours after the accident. Richard has shown a little improvement. Opal also told me that she might need me to sub in the office for her at least the first week of school. I told her that I wouldn't mind subbing for her but wished it was for other reasons. She said that the doctor wanted her to go home and try to rest but as a mother--she couldn't leave Kyle. She had a waiting room full of people waiting with her so I didn't stay. I will continue to check on both of them.
Now we are waiting for the Nationwide Race to start--Carl is sitting on the pole. Now for tomorrow's race Carl is scheduled to start 27th but we know that he will start at least in 26th because Ryan Newman had to change an engine out so he will go to the back. But something really great--Carl was fastest in the last practice. Go CARL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will come back to post more later.

Thursday Update

Well it's Thursday and I'm still without transportation. Kayla just called and said that they had the truck running. So I might get it back tonight. Tomorrow is Carl Edwards birthday. Kayla wants to get a birthday cake to celebrate his birthday. But if I don't get my truck back--we won't get the cake.

Hump Day

Well it's not anything remarkable happening today. It's just the middle of the week. Kayla has gone to work with her daddy. They called and transferred the shop phone to me because they had to go down on the lake for a wrecker call. Skip was already on a call so Doug and Kayla had to go. So that means I'm home today working in the house. I hope I get as much done today as I did on Monday. But to do that I had better get of my rear and get busy. But since both Doug and Skip are on wrecker calls--that means they can't work on my truck. I just hope they get it fixed. Doug was saying that they thought something else might be wrong with it but Doug tried working on it yesterday and he's hoping it got fixed.
If I think of anything else--I will post it. Oh, Kayla has decided that she would rather work at the shop on Monday instead of going to my sub meeting at school. She just wants me to make sure I bring home the list of teachers.

Visiting the Hospital

Well Kayla and I spent most of the day at the hospital. Aunt Birdie had surgery today. She was scheduled to be at the hospital at 9:00am and she was the second one scheduled to have knee surgery. Well they finally took her into surgery at 1:00pm. We left the hospital after the doctor came out and told us that she made it through the surgery just fine. She will remain at the hospital for three days. Kayla and I had to ride with Dad and Charlotte. Doug and Skip continued to work on my truck. Unfortunately they didn't get the motor job completely done today. It should be finished tomorrow. At least I hope it's finished tomorrow.
After Doug got off work (he left early) he came home and took Kayla and I to our Weight Watcher meeting. We didn't stay for the meeting but just weighed in. Kayla lost weight this week but I gained weight. Not much but still a gain. After weigh in we went to Tractor Supply and bought fencing material. Remember that's where Kayla and I were going when the motor went out in Dad's truck. We finally got the material we needed. Now we have to get the fence up so they can move the trailer out. After getting the fence material, we stopped at Whataburger and ate something for supper and then Doug stopped at Wal Mart so Kayla and I could get the few things we needed or actually few things we wanted. Then we came home and here I sit doing my blog posting.
Kayla plans to go to work with Doug again tomorrow. She had fun working with him on Monday and I got quite a bit done here at the house while they were both out of the house. I guess I got more done because there was NO ONE here for me to talk to and then not having transportation I didn't have anything to do so I was able to get the house cleaned up and stuff put away that was moved over here and just sat in the front room.
Will post more tomorrow.

NASCAR Race update

Well the race didn't go as I had wanted because Carl didn't win--but he did place in the top 10. He was 9th in the race but it moved him to 2nd in the Chase. But because Kyle Busch won the race--NO ONE can tie him in the Chase. He has won so many races. And just with 9 laps left in the race--there had to be a BIG BAD Crash. We were so worried about Bobby Labonte, he was taken to a hospital in town but last report he was released from the hospital to go back to racing. I just hope Carl can win a couple more races before the Chase starts.
And then on Saturday, Marc0s Ambrose, from Austraila won his first NASCAR race. It was his 59th start and he was driving car #59. Way to go Marcos!!! If Carl wasn't able to win--I'm glad it was him.

A Good Start to the Week

Well after such a bad week last week with the motors going out--this week has started really good. Kayla went to work with Doug this morning and they took my motor to Nacogdoches to be repaired. A little while ago Doug called and told me that they were on the way back with my motor. I was just sick thinking they couldn't fix the motor. Doug said no that it was fixed and they were on their way back. I know a motor can't be rebuilt that fast. Doug said the company he deals with had a motor just like mine already repaired and they just switched out. Doug said that my car could be fixed as early as tomorrow evening. I'm so excited.
Tomorrow morning Kayla and I are riding with my dad to Nacogdoches. My aunt (Dad's sister) is having knee replacement surgery. So tomorrow I will be in Nacogdoches most of the day. Tomorrow evening, Kayla and I go to Weight Watchers--hopefully my truck will be repaired by then so Doug won't have to take me to WW.

It's the Weekend

And what a horrible Friday it was. Kayla and I started out in Dad's truck to go to Center to get fencing material, but first we had to take some frozen things to Dad's to put in his deep freezer. We are moving ours from the old house to the new house and want to defrost it first. Well on the way the truck acted a little funny but then started acting right again. At least until I got to the major intersection and it died. I mean it really died. The motor seized up. Yep his truck needs a new motor. It's horrible to borrow someone's vehicle and it tear up on you. My truck is already at Doug's shop ready for it's motor to be taken out and taken to Nacogdoches to be rebuilt. So Kayla and I are now without transportation. Needless to say we didn't get the fencing material. I just hope they don't come to move the old house out before we get the dog's fence redone.
Today is my MIL's 75th birthday and I plan to fix their supper. But now I will have to depend on Doug to take me to the store to get things for it. He's gone to the shop. I'm glad that he's gone for a while. I'm so tired of him bringing things into the house and just setting them in the front room floor. I can't even catch up on what he's bringing before he brings more stuff. I wish I could have moved things the way I wanted instead of the way he did it. Plus I throw things away and he brings them back to the house. Oh well I can't win. I had better close this post for now and get busy trying to clean up this mess that's supposed to be our home. At least he can't bring anything else to the house because it's all over here now.

Back Again

It was brought to my attention that I hadn't posted in a while so here I am. So much has been happening. We were really watching the tropical storm yesterday as he made landfall around Galveston. We sure were hoping that he would bring us some much needed rain but needless to say--we didn't get the rain. Last night I went to my Weight Watchers meeting and I'm still on track. Today I still have to continue putting things in the new house that hubby brought over from the old house. He sold the house this past weekend. So at least that is out of our way. Now if he could just find a buyer for our air conditioning unit. We only used it for like 6 months so it's a good a/c.
I've got to get the house straightened by this Friday. It's my MIL's 75th birthday and I want to fix her a birthday supper and have her to the house. She has never been to the new house.
That's about all I know to write right now because I don't know what I've missed posting from the last time until now.
Oh I'm also waiting for the phone company to come by because the road maintenance came by today and was grading the road and they cut the phone lines. Doug was able to put them together but the phone company will have to repair the line. I've called in and have a trouble report submitted so they said they would be here between now and 7pm.

TGIF

Well it's finally Friday. I didn't post anything yesterday. I was busy and forgot to post. Yesterday was Doug's birthday. He turned 52 years old. Kayla and I got him a new fax machine for the office. He can take the old one to the shop so he can receive faxes there and I won't have to worry about missing them here. I fixed him a birthday supper of steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, and salad. We got him a little chocolate birthday cake from Wal Mart. Kayla and I ate our 100 cal bar while he ate half his cake. And then he finished it this morning. At least there won't be any cake here to tempt me.
Kayla and I are patiently waiting for 5:15 pm this afternoon. That's when we start to participate in the Relay for Life. Then in the morning when we leave the Relay--we might ride to Houston with my dad to get a new prescription that is waiting for him at M D Anderson Hospital.
Other than that I don't know of anything new to write today.

Mid Week Update

Well for nothing better to call this one--I'm calling it mid-week. Last night Kayla and I went to the Relay For Life Bank Night. We are participating in San Augustine's Third Annual Relay For Life. Not only are we on the PTSO Team, but she and I are manning the registration table for the Survivor's Reception. We are looking forward to it.
After going to the RFL meeting, we then headed for Center to go to our Weight Watcher's Meeting. We both ended up losing a little weight this past week. We are both interested in our weigh-in for next week after participating in the Relay.
After the meeting, we came home and fed the dogs (did I mention that we have 14 dogs). While feeding them, we decided to let Bristol out of her pen (she appeared to be trying to go in heat and we wanted to keep her separated from the male dogs--she has an appointment in October to be spayed). She wore Doug and Kayla out with all her running around the main yard. I was in the fenced in backyard cleaning out her pen.
Then we ate supper and went to bed.
This morning, Kayla and I have stayed around the house except when we went to Dad's house to check his mail. He's coming in today. Kayla has been in the pool twice today and I've been trying to get the house straightened. I was thinking that Aunt Birdie might come see the house on her way back from her doctor's visit but she hasn't shown up yet. I seem to be making some progress in getting the house straight but that will change as soon as Doug gets home and brings in more stuff. That's about all I know for today.

Our New Home

I talked about us moving into the new house. Well our new house is a Palm Harbor 30 x 64 home. It was a four bedroom/3 bath home, but we converted one of the bedrooms into a home office. It is 1920 sq ft., which is 800 sq ft more than we had before. It has a large master bedroom, large master bath with huge walk-in closet (Kayla says it's big enough for a nursery), a large living room, a big kitchen with an island, a dining room, the office, a guest bathroom, a guest room, Kayla's room with her own bathroom, and a utility/laundry room. We had an extra door added to the office (so it has two doors to enter into), an extra door from the utility room to Kayla's bathroom and then we had an atrium door added in the dining room to go out to the back yard. The doors that lead out of the house were in the front room and in the utility/laundry room - which are in the front of the house and the side of the house--next to the dog pen.
Doug wants to build a back deck so the door going from the dining room to the backyard will work good.
I don't know if I will ever get everything moved to the new house or not. But I'm trying.
We set the swimming pool up Saturday evening. It's on the other side of the house. I can look out my bedroom window or my bathroom window and see the pool. Which is good because last year when we had the pool set up--it was hard for me to see Kayla out in the pool.
I will try to get pictures posted soon of the house. I have to find the software for the laptop so I can download pictures.

The Beginning

Several of my friends have started a blog so I decided to start one too. I guess I should have started this blog when we first decided to buy a new house. I sure would have had a lot to write about but I didn't. We are now in our new house but everything has not been moved in. Kayla and I wanted to go through stuff at the old house before it was brought to the new house. But Doug has a different idea on moving. He has only moved twice in his whole life--once when he was five years old (Now you know he didn't do much of the moving) and then he moved again when we got married 14 years ago. So he puts everything he can find in a box and moves it to the new house, where Kayla then has to go through it and decide if it's something we want in the new house, something we want to throw away or something we want to sell in a garage/yard sale.
It looks like this new house is getting pretty full. I can't believe we had all the stuff we are moving over here in the old house.
